In addition to writing lots of screenplays, John August also writes a blog that is full of useful information for screenwriters. After experiencing frustration with getting screenplay text to display with proper formatting, he put together something called Scrippets. It’s a plug-in for various blogging systems that lets you wrap a clip from your script with a tag which makes it automatically display it in a format that looks like a screenplay. Pretty cool. To test it out, here’s a clip from THE SPIDER BABIES.
Johnny and Ethel are getting dressed. They listen to the ruckus from the gang down below.
JOHNNY
Did she already run off another boy?
ETHEL
That would be a new world record.
As she pulls on her t-shirt she looks out at the highway and notices several wrecked cars. Other cars seem to have driven off the road and stopped in fields.
ETHEL (CONT’D)
Baby, look! A car crash.
Johnny stands up and squints into the light.

MicroCinemaFest screening was last night! Here’s a post-screening pic of co-screenwriter John Oak Dalton and Asphalt Planet supporter Masami Yano. I am still waiting for the offical report but I talked to Shogo today who had talked to Masami who said it went pretty great. I’ll post more when I hear about it.
I really hate it that I missed this one, but my state of poverty is reaching ridiculous levels, but I finally have the details of my relocation worked out and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Shogo is in pre-production on a short which is shooting in Japan at the end of this month. We both would have loved to be there. Thanks to everybody who came to the screening. I hope you had fun!

Jessica and Leah model our brand-new Sex Machine t-shirts which arrived just in time for the screening thanks to Sheridan and Tiki Tees.

The day after the screening after a great lunch at the Clay Pit.
