We can now officially announce that the producers rep for Sex Machine is none other than Bill Cunningham, legendary pulp-screenwriter and producer. Bill has managed to get our movie seen by lots of industry people and we are still strategizing which direction to take. You can read his account of our partnership at his blog. I know I keep saying we will have announcements soon, but this is as good as we can do for now. For now, I just think it’s cool that our rep is also the screenwriter responsible for Scarecrow and Scarecrow Slayer.
Next feature: Will shoot Spring/Summer 2007. No monsters this time. Rough draft is being sent to Rod Lott as we speak so he can work his magic on the second draft. We are looking for a few more investors to round out financing on this one, but I am convinced the rest of it will fall together fairly quickly. Otherwise, I will be ruining my credit for art, yet again.
Meanwhile: Celibate a short film collaboration between me and Chicago writer Jason Pettus. We will shoot in Austin this September. This is a micro-budget mixed media piece and I’m really looking forward to it. I think it will be very funny and maybe even touching.
Music Video Giveaway. Asphalt Planet is giving away a free music video to an Austin based band. This is something we hope to do every year to help support independent musicians but also to give us a chance to do crazy experimental stuff that commercial clients won’t normally allow. So if you’re an Austin based musician, keep your eyes peeled to AsphaltPlanet.com. I will be directing this as well.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Thanks for your continued interest in Sex Machine and what we are doing with Asphalt Planet. Stay tuned!
